Shane Mcconnell: Superintendent
Shane McConnell graduated American International College with degrees in Education and Sociology. Providence College graduate with a Master’s degree in Special Education and a graduate from the RI Principal Residency Network. Shane has worked in private and public school settings as a; Teacher, Special Education Director, Principal and as a Co-Founder of RIAA Superintendent /COO.
Erin Medeiros: Director of Special Education
Erin Medeiros graduated the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in education. She is certified to teach early childhood, elementary and Special Education and as a Special Education Administrator. She has worked with children with disabilities for over fifteen years.
John Schmidt: Principal
John Schmidt is a graduate of Dickinson College and has a Masters degree in Special Education from Providence College. He has been working in alternative educational environments the last 20 years. He has been a residential counselor and History teacher, and a Principal in other alternative settings.
Jennifer Morgan: Business Manager
Jennifer is a graduate from Strayer University with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and Marketing. Jennifer has spent her career specializing in Business Operations in both corporate and startup organizations. She has been in the education sector with RIAA since it’s inception in 2017.
Jennifer Tuirok: Elementary Co-Head Teacher
Jennifer Tuirok graduated from Providence College with a bachelor's degree in Education . She is certified in Elementary 1-6, Special Education K-8 and Multi Language Learners K-12. She also holds an endorsement in Literacy and Dyslexia. She has been working in the alternative education environment for the last 9 years and worked in Early Childhood Education for 8 years prior to.
Meagan Lopes: Elementary Co-Head Teacher
Meagan Lopes graduated from Rhode Island College with a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. She also holds an endorsement in Literacy and Dyslexia. Meagan has worked in an alternative educational environment for the last 9 years. She enjoys working with children, supporting staff and leading a great program that helps students work on their individual needs. Meagan enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
